Food Bank Food NOT for the Hungery?

This was brought to my attention when discussed with one of my Internet support groups! And it just made me so mad. So did you know that in order to get food from our State food bank, that you have to financially qualify???? Hum, yes, you have to take documentation on all family members and all income. So basically if a family is having a hard financial month and they are short on food, they can NOT get food for their family if they don't meet the financial qualification. So that means that all those who already receive help from the state by receiving food stamps each month are the only ones who can asses our food bank food. Now that just does not make any sense to me. I know that there are always some of "those" people who take advantage of our resources and may get food when they have money in their pocket, but I really don't think that consist of too many people. Any how upon finding this out, I will think very hard, and pray about giving to "our" food bank again. I always give each year and have even done a food bank drive one Christmas, but this was from my thinking that the food was for anyone who may NEED it to feed their family?? Wrong again!

the best APPLE PIE in all the land!

So I've been asked for my apple pie recipe from a few people so I thought I would list it. It really is the best in all the land! YUMMERS!

For 2 pies cause you cant have just one!

I use Marie Calenders deep dish, they come in two, that's all you need

About 7-8 Gala apples
About 4-5 granny Smith this combination gives it a sweet but tart taste!
Peel the apples and slice them thin but not too thin
Place them in a large bowl then add the following

2 cups sugar
2/3 all purpose flour
2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon allspice
dash or two of salt

Mix this all together but not to much as it will make a juice and the pie will be runny
place the pie mixure in the two shells cover with the crumble topping
Crumble Topping
Mix 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 tsp. each of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, mix with 1 1/4 cups butter, mix until crumbly.
Bake on 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes to a golden brown

Let set for about 15-20 minutes then serve with Vanilla Ice Cream Topped with Carmel

You'll have to have seconds!! ENJOY!

Written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for Children in Calcuta India

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered,
LOVE THEM ANYWAY
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives,
DO GOOD ANYWAY
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies,
SUCCEED ANYWAY
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow,
DO GOOD ANYWAY
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable,
BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight,
BUILD ANYWAY
People really need help but may attack you if you help them,
HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth,
GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU'VE GOT ANYWAY

Christmas Magic

peek into the little rip
Ah, my finger fits in "I can feel it"

Oh just a little bigger rip, I can see more

Please Mommy, let me open it, "It's Mine"

Tears as he tapes it all back up to wait for Christmas Morning!

Grandpa and Grandma N left presents under our tree last Sunday. On Monday Ross decided it was too much he just had to take a peak after all there was already a little tiny rip in the wrap. He got right down there trying to look in and he put his little finger in saying, "I can feel it", Then the rip got bigger and bigger, Mommy made him tape over it and he sure wasn't happy after all like he told me, it was his present! Ah these are the precious times!!
